Q: Can we bring a boat?
A: Yes! It is encouraged. We have plenty of dock space, moorings, and a boat ramp to launch your boat. We recommend not trailering anything more than 28′ long, however there are various boat rental companies in the area. The dock & mooring is complimentary. We will give you some local advice on where to see the best sights, and avoid obstructions / ledges!

A: Fishing, kayaking, swimming, purchase fresh Maine lobsters from our dock, hike through the quarrys etc, swim in Echo Lake just across rte. 102 from us. Quite often you can spot Eagles, Osprey, Seagulls, Seals, Porpoise, and cormorants from your cottage.

There are very few places in Maine which offer a nicely appointed cottage within feet from the waters edge, and a protected view across Somes Sound at Acadia National Park.
Q: Do you have TV, heating & air conditioning?
A: Yes to all three! We have just installed energy efficient Fujitsu heat pumps which provide air conditioning. In addition to your wood burning fire place, the cottages have electric heat, & heat from the quiet heat pumps. We also have 115 channels of satellite TV (Dish Net).
Q: Where can we keep our bikes & Kayaks?
A: Each cottage has ample private parking space to keep your outdoor belongings. We also have a large parking lot down by the water with a boat ramp where you are welcome to keep your kayaks. Our property is very private, and we have never had any issues with theft in over 30 years. This is one of the things we love about our area! There are also kayak rental businesses in our area which will deliver & pick-up kayaks for you.
Q: Where can we buy lobsters?
A: One unique benefit of Chambers Cottages is we have lobsters for sale at prices that can’t be beat. Don Chambers sells lobsters each night around 5pm at his dock. Please call ahead to reserve the freshest lobsters caught right in Somes Sound! 207-244-5279. Each cottage is equipped with a large lobster kettle which can cook up to 8 lobsters at a time. We recommend steaming lobsters with an inch of water in the kettle, bring to a boil, add lobsters, and cook for 15 minutes.

We just returned from an amazing week at Sounderosa Cottage. Paul and Ashlee are fantastic hosts. We have been staying at the Chambers Oceanfront Cottages for over 30 years and always appreciate how well equipped and clean they are, not to mention how well stocked they are with wood for the fireplace. Over the past few years, there have been several attractive updates to the cottage, including the new flooring in the living area. Most of all we always enjoy the gorgeous view and the peacefulness and privacy of the location. This year, Paul took us on a cruise of Somes Sound in his boat and filled us in on some of the history as well as answering all of the questions which our family posed. It was our first time to cruise the Sound and was a special treat - Paul even provided snacks and drinks. Our grandchildren challenged the adults to a rowboat race down at the dock and enjoyed hunting for mussels and shells. It is so convenient to be able to walk down the hill to the dock and purchase lobsters for dinner. We always enjoy our lobster dinners at the picnic table on the cottage deck. The list of things we love about the cottages goes on and on. We cannot imagine staying any other place on Mt. Desert.read more

We just returned from a week at the Sea Breeze cottage, and it was a wonderful experience. The cottage was clean, comfortable, well decorated, and had everything we needed right down to linens, towels and a well equipped kitchen (including all supplies needed to cook our own lobsters). Paul and Ashley were incredibly welcoming and attentive (don't miss the chance to by some lobsters right from Paul's dock) and bent over backwards to make sure that we had a great trip. We had some special requests to help us stay with a young toddler, and they went well above and beyond to accommodate. The views of the sound are breathtaking, and the location is convenient to Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor. Highly recommended and we will be back!read more

Amazing views from Topside Cottage! This is our first time in Maine. Pleasantly surprised by the rental. Cottage is spacious, clean, and well equipped. It has a home away from home feel. There are three docks on property to fish, swim, or launch from. Very quiet and serene. Nearby markets and lobster roll stands. Wildlife abounds.read more

What a wounderful cottage!! My wife and I spent our 25th wedding anniversary at Crow's Nest. The cottage was beautiful, well equipped and the views of Some's Sound and Sargent Mountain were exceptional. The hosts were gracious and easily accessable if needed. Fresh lobster off the boat was caught hours before and delicious! We are already planning our trip for next year and another delightful stay at Chamber's Oceanfront Cottages!read more

The views, the ammenadies are very clean, and just great people. We spent a long weekend here and my wife and I absolutely will be coming back. You have your own privet "cottage" it really is a house, that overlooks the water and you get to see boats going by and can go down to the dock and fish. If the fish arnt biting Paul will sell you lobsters that he caught himself. That is an awesome meal. We also took a boat ride on the ocean and looked at light houses and big homes. It felt like I had a privet boat and caption on my vacation. I give this place 5 stars it is close to everything but it is like you have your own house on the island. Thank you Paul and Ashley for being so accommodating.read more

We take a family vacation to Mount Desert Island every year and rent a house. We have two small children so we're pretty picky about the kind of place where we stay. The Crowe's Nest was large, inviting, immaculate, and homey with one of the most beautiful ocean-front views we've seen. They have everything you need to feel comfortable-I even brought several items other properties were lacking on past trips and didn't need them here. We bought lobster down on the dock three times. It was so convenient and fun to just walk down the road to get our dinner! They were a great deal too. We also took a boat ride with Paul, who was more than accommodating and pointed out some of the little-known spots on the waterfront in Somes Sound. It was the perfect night for a cruise and a private ride was the perfect way to enjoy it. We highly recommend this property for a getaway to Acadia and the surrounding area. We'll be back!read more
